In the future they may have to change to a technical interview if recency is a concern? That seems to be the issue with a lot of us. The "hire the person we know you can fly" doesn't fit if a candidate adequately completed the TMAAT format and is then eliminated four months later based on recency issues.
That's a double edged sword, though. If you ditch the TMAAT questions for a tech interview then you run the risk of hiring guys with technical knowledge that will treat your customers and the people around them like crap. I guess we have a few of those anyway, but I could see the floodgates opening up. I know at my last carrier (yeah, it's a regional, but from an HR standpoint, it's not THAT different), it was all techincal for the interview. We had some guys that could quote you he FARs and did great in the sims, but when put in interpersonal situations, they didn't do so well. When you're fighting for every last customer and your reputation is built on customer service like ours, that's not really a road we need to go down.
