Just signed onto the forums hoping to learn about the AA MIA base. Currently a West 320 FO, with AZ roots but considering moving to Ft Lauderdale area in a couple of years. Regarding the MIA base, are there plans that anyone knows of for an Airbus domicile there? What is the trip mix like on the 737- mix of 1/2/3/4 days? Red eyes? Good credit trips? Decent layovers? What is reserve utilization like? I understand a lot of this is subject to change with a new JCBA. I also have heard that the 75/76 goes junior in MIA (anticipating wide body fences). Is there a Super 80 base in MIA?
Anyone live north and use the TRi Rail instead of driving in?
What is the culture like in MIA as compared to other bases?
Do some of the trips originate in FLL?
Anyone have knowledge of Parkland, FL as it relates to schools, community, accessibility, etc?
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the responses.
I'm MIA based. We don't know when the Airbus will come here.
No S80's in MIA.
737 Domestic has some variety.
Reserves fly quite a bit.
Yes Tri Rail is improving and yes lots of guys ride it. It stops at 930PM.
Some FLL trips and new trips out of PBI all go senior.
Everyone here says schools are better out west. West Boca, West Ft laud ect.
I like the culture of AA MIA int'l flying.
