Maybe I'm reading to much into it. Maybe American management isn't that smart, or doesn't care. But I think that at least based on the current model, the regional pilots, specifically FO's, hold the cards. If you're the mainline that can successfully attract FO's to your regional(s), especially at the expense of your competitors, you will win this round.

I think this is a shot across the bow. DAL just offered the EtD deal to try and get more pilots to apply at Endeavor and this won't help their cause. DAL is hoping to not only keep their current pilots at endeavor but also bring in future pilots. So now, why not go to CP where you will make a lot more money, enjoy nicer airplanes and pilots that actually like where they work with a quicker upgrade too. They also get an interview with DAL as well. So if I were looking for a job right now it would appear that CP is the place to go. This will hurt endeavors bottom line which then also affects DAL.
