Well, fwiw, I did CQ once with an 88 CA who was 3 days from starting 777 FO training. The last thing he ever did on the 88 was have a full blown off the wall type ride by an old crotchety DGS ass. Yeah I said it. He absolutely was. Never seen anyone like him before or since and for the sake of the 88 pilots I hope he is long since gone... and he looked to be on the physical edge anyways.
As miserable as I was answering the max cracked window speed I really felt bad for that Captain, luckily he had studied pretty hard despite the fact it was the end of his time on the jet.
That's not the current policy. The training schedulers "actively manage" the training to reduce costs. If you're within a couple weeks of Initial Training, they'll drop your CQ. If you're not getting resolution, call ALPA Training Rep. He has a great relationship with Dir of Training. Bottom line is they don't want to pay $$$ of the CQ training needlessly.
