Clearly you are not reading what I have said. Never once did I say to fly every single approach manually (even though that is my preferred method). I said don't muck around with partial automation. AP off - AT off. If, for whatever reason you don't want to turn off the AT then leave the AP on, if you're 'too tired' to move the throttle levers you're 'too tired' to move the yoke as well.
