Is that a valid interview question anymore? No way would I recommend leaving a legacy for SWA today. The numbers favor legacies much more than SWA.
It's as valid as they deem it to be. They are the ones giving the interview so they will decide the validity of their questions, not ShyGuy.

The fact that people above have mentioned they have been asked this question, in a legacy interview, would make me believe it's valid.

Plus, I don't know what the OPs careers plans are. If he is unable to secure a spot with a Legacy carrier, having that 737 type may make it difficult to get on with JBLU, NK or your Virgin, as someone mentioned above.

In the end, as the OP pointed out, it's a free type, so might as well use it.
