Our flight ops dept sent out a nice memo saying we can wear flag/patriotic ties this week to show out patriotism.

Then the guy who is the newly created position of Assistant Chief Pilot in BLI showed his huge ego when he sent an email back to flight ops management that suggested using the wording "tasteful tie" because "you just never know what they will wear". It was meant for management eyes only but he accidentally replied to all the pilots in the company.

He is a fairly junior captain and a new check airman but obviously thinks we are like children and need help determining what kind of tie we should wear.

Insulting.
