The one guy(military ) that didn't get it on my day said he didn't prepare any stories and that he wanted to shoot from the hip and be truthful. It's one thing to not sound rehearsed or provide canned answers, but reviewing your logs to jog your memory about old experiences is the smart thing to do.
I'm sure everyone knows this, but I would make sure you have about ten stories that you can adapt to any question. Have a few of your best days, a few of your worst, and some general crazy situations (EPs, funny stories, CRM issues, etc).
