I once went to do a check ride to get my instructor certificates renewed after letting them lapse. I had an ATP. The DPE told me before hand that I was going to pass because if I showed that I didn't display the knowledge or fly to commercial standards then he would have to fail me and take my certificates. Luckily I showed up prepared, but his remarks reminded me of the big picture. Good post sir and thanks for the reminder!!
