No, I'm not a check airman. I'm a sim instructor and from what I have been told that is not worth much on my app. I was told by a guy that does the interviews that if they were hiring sim instructors then I'd be one of the first to get a call but they are hiring line pilots and not sim instructors so not much weight goes into be an instructor. Look at it this way. Unless you are a goober, it probably won't hurt you to go and meet with the hiring guys face to face. At the very least, it will show that you are serious about being a Delta pilot and that you are willing to spend your time/$$$ to prove it.
If it doesn't help, at least you tried to get noticed (and you'll know where you stand). You'll be better off going and knowing that you are exhausting all avenues, rather than just sitting at home complaining that they aren't calling you.
Now if you are only so/so on flying for Delta and don't really care either way, stay home. Otherwise, I'd do everything I could to get noticed.
