It absolutely is. In fact, I mostly agree with everything you said. The only thing that I think might be a bit misleading is implying that you are just as likely to be selected at a major as a regional FO. Is it possible? Sure...but you'd better have some pretty good connections to make that happen. There are of course exceptions for everything.
