I know you've had issues with that and, for what it's worth, I tend to agree more with you on that issue. That said, having the 8-hour sleep opportunity interrupted by outside influences such as you describe is pretty clearly spelled out in the FAA's clarifications of 117. I suspect you would have been pleasantly surprised by your reps' reactions, and that they would very much like to get your data points on this.
