The other reason is the flight attendants don't like long trips and the senior momma's would scream bloody murder if they took their 10 hour turns away. On my last ATL-SEA trip the FA's were on the first leg of a almost 11 hour turn. Their walkers took up all the space in the first class overheads.
Do the airplanes have different work rules than the pilots? Not every jet is being sequenced for maintenance today/tomorrow.
