It might depend on the model but the newest Johnston/Murphy shoes will not last forever, a couple of years tops. And the quality of the material is so low that a cobbler will advise against attempting to repair them. They aren't bad shoes but the quality is definitely not what JM was known for in the past.
there is a difference in the JMs from Dillards and the ones from JM stores. They look the same, but they are not the same shoe. I need to go to their stores to get them in a narrow width and you can tell there is a world of difference. Although I don't wear them for work, I have a couple pair that are pretty bulletproof.
