Sure - I bet Delta will give them 6 months of pay or so, maybe $20K in medical. But like George in Seinfeld said, "if I stay, I get it all".
Yep. Do the math. 17 days off a month, 89 hour line, potentially 3 4-day trips or if you want you can do it all at once and have the rest of the month off, you fly the freaking 747, you gross $23K a month, $280 per year and you could if you wanted have a vacation week basically every other month.
And you're going to be convinced to go down to $0 and retire early?? You'd be crazy. I guess you could do a practice run and put your trips on the swap board and see what a month of zero pay feels like but I doubt anyone would do that.
