Not true. There's seven Config Warnings including the Parking Brake. In the previous example where ATC gives you an immediate takeoff clearance, you may rush through a checklist. Maybe you just de-iced and have the stab trim nose-up 15 degrees or forgot to set the flaps. Either way you'll be reminded of your error at 70% N1....hopefully you're not halfway down the runway when you reach that power setting.
I think he was only referencing the parking brake vs pedal brakes.
Clearly there other other triggers for a T/O config warning.
I'm not sure how doing a static takeoff will protect you from what you mentioned above.
Has anyone actually chimed in and said that AWAC only does static T/O?
As far as I know my airline's T/O warning isn't based on N1, it's just throttle position.
