This may come as a shock, but those bases and US troops were there at the request of the Saudi government. So perhaps it was Saudi policy that angered the terrorists, or Saudi and US policy or perhaps they are just liking their jihad bag?

The policy of the US in the ME has remained unchanged for decades, blaming it on one person or party is incorrect. The bottom line is everybody plays nice and the oil keeps flowing or people are going to get hurt. Beyond that, you will have a hard time finding people who care about politics in the ME or the US.
