I appreciate the sentiment. That said, which pilots created the circumstance whereby the manning has gotten tight over the last few months? Of course, the answer is that no line pilot had anything to do with it. The situation was created by management pulling some MD10s from service and placing pilots into schools for replacement airplanes (and the B777). Management didn't do this in a fog. The school will soon be spitting pilots out of the pipeline and back into line flying. We didn't create the start of this manning issue and we won't have any control when it subsides before peak.

Line pilots naturally want a no-risk resolution (like temporary manning issues). Especially those that fall into their lap. It's gonna take some risk and sacrifice to get the contract you want.
