What is the thought on SkyWest's upgrade times in the future? I have an offer in hand with them, and I am about 99% sure that I am going to take it. However I am a bit concerned about their very top heavy seniority list, and the amount of supposed lifers there.
I know you're not supposed the chase the quick upgrade, but it would be nice to go somewhere where I know it won't take 7 years to upgrade. Any thoughts on future SKW movement?
Forget the upgrade, the years spent on reserve will make you want to run head first into a running EMB120 prop. 7 years will be the minimum, future movement will be backwards as the 50s go away and airframe sizes increase. But come on over and find out for yourself, it's only days off of your life. Being in the top 10% means my schedule is pretty good, I expect that will change for the worse. SKYW management has jumped the shark, and while they may be better than the rest of the industry, it's still first place at the Special Olympics. I have multiple applications out, just waiting to bail!
