Actually, we are. And we expect it from everyone. Being aggravated because you expect your FO (or Captain, to be fair, because it does work both ways and there are some turds in both lists) to pull their own weight and live up to their responsibilities does not make one a "douche". I work with many excellent and dedicated people. I do, however, find that the FO's who whine the loudest about "deserving" a captain seat after their X number of years are frequently the people who are the laziest and least engaged and most uninterested in learning something because they do believe they already know everything, and I often wonder what kind of captains they become when their numbers do come up. The checkride was far and away the easiest part of the transition to the left seat.
