This is very true. I left a very lucrative career to become a pilot. Prior to Skywest, I'd also been around the block. I've instructed, flown charter, flown corporate, etc.

I've been at Skywest for 3.5 yrs now, and am pretty happy. But I live a full life outside work, have no debt, and live well within my means (but still have a lot of nice toys and have fun!). It really is a personal choice to be miserable, and I say this with experience - I used to be one miserable SOB in my previous career.
