Just my tin foil hat speaking, but it seems to me that by just letting things in the regional industry simply fall to pieces is working in management's favor---traction in Congress is getting stronger to repeal the ATP law. So management just takes it on the chin (or more like the shin given their record profitability) in the short term, while Congress crumbles at their feet. Long term, management has their old regional model back. Shoot, they might get the government to kick in some dollars towards subsidizing something in the flight training industry to boot. Win-win!
