While a quasi seniority system exists to move to bigger aircraft, the fleets are separated according to manufacturer. Cross fleet transfers go very senior. Airbus has the most types, thus the most amount of movement within. Career progress, lifestyle choice, and expansion has made a logical path very difficult to define. FO's who joined over the last 18 months were able to bid to the 380, while very senior staff numbers stay 320 FO's to gain experience/sectors. Some remain on the wide body fleet in hopes of avoiding a narrow body upgrade. The short answer is there is a lot of opportunity and movement, but nothing is set in stone.
