I guess it will come down to how I explain myself.
They didnt give me an interview because I showed up at WIA. They gave me an interview because of the things I have done in the past 15 years. Showing up at WIA probably just showed to them how bad I want the job.
Ask yourself if you have anything that sets you apart from the other 10,000 applicants. If answer is no, go after something that will set you apart, be a high up connection, post graduate school, community service, etc.....
Again, chances of me getting hired are 50/50, but glad to have the chance and it shows that hard work pays off.
I will be very frustated if not offered the job, but I know that I have prepared the best that I can. Can't change my stupid behavior from
98-99.
I wouldn't call driving violations "skeletons," unless you're talking DUI, which you aren't.

I drove like an idiot in HS and to a lesser extent, in college. Got lots of tickets. A few speeding tickets since.

C+ student in HS and Uni. Top grad in mil flight school. One failed mil check ride 15 years ago. Just shy of 4.0 in high-end Masters. Lots of professional and volunteer work and honors.

In the interview, I was asked about my driving habits, my poor grades early on, and my failed checkride. In each, I owned my mistakes, called out the root problems, listed lessons learned, and pointed to evidence that I'd applied those lessons.

Hired.
