Much more liability these days. DAL doesn't do that anymore. Hasn't for many years. The most obtrusive they can get is forcing you to sign a form releasing your attendance records. I'm friends with every single chief pilot, and most of Flight Ops management. I assure you, they are not getting calls from DAL looking for dirt on applicants.
