What kind of QOL could someone expect on first year FO pay? The housing market around Auckland is expensive when compared to several US cities. I've heard average NZ salary is around 35K, but with housing prices so high that doesn't seem right.

Additionally, how well do you think a yank would be received both at the company and around town. I'm not talking the ugly American type that wears a cowboy hat, big belt buckle, and tight "made in the USA" t-shirt. But respectful and more than willing to adapt to local customs.
