The biggest issue is getting clearance to get into Canada.
I think most regionals don't give a flying fig f you've got a DUI and can explain yourself- but since most fly internationally, that's where the problem lies.

As for "all you need to do is fog a mirror" LMAO. I interviewed at one of those so-called places and 2 out of 3 of us didn't get the job, despite the so-called "pilot shortage" and "desperation for pilots"
