The industry furloughed thousands, combine that furlough with the increase in retirement age to 65 and that is the reason you are just now in class. My airline has always been "hiring for the foreseeable future" right up to the day they furlough.
No, you're exactly right and I didn't see your post before I already posted pretty much total agreement. And so flow agreements should be seen clearly for what they are if a pilot group is considering paying for a flow by giving things up in a contract.
All airlines hire like that.
