Not even close. We've been railing for years that we send money to a bloated, inept bureaucracy that harms us more than hurts us. We're stuck with ALPA national, so let's get some leadership that gives us a return on our investment, rather than treating us as an ATM.
And the "conflict of interest" critique you referred to (shared by thousands of us) arises because ALPA represents regional pilot groups whose agendas are not even close to ours--not because ALPA represents other mainline groups. But you knew all that.
Now suddenly you seem to be in favor of a United pilot dictating to the Delta pilot group what we should be willing to accept in a contract. Which is it?
I don't care who leads "our" "union" as long as he/she produces favorable results, is a good steward of our dues money, and stays out of our way when it comes to negotiating in a highly favorable environment. Moak is 0 for 3. Let's be realistic. Another entrenched insider isn't going to enact meaningful reform--or more specifically, meaningful reform the benefits us pilots.
We're on the same team whether you like it or not.
Anyone who agrees with Moak's verbal diarrhea advocating for only minimal improvements in our next contract most certainly is NOT on my team.
So where do you stand on Moak's interview comments? Are you going to attempt to paint them as positive for us? (I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that.)
