A conspiracy theorist feels the MEC is after him, so needs anonymity. Once anonymous, they speak about the need to hide from the MEC and spread vitriol without consequence, fulfilling the need to now remain anonymous, lest their comments be attributed to them.
Anonymity allows the truth to come out, but these nuggets of truth are found within a soup of vitriol, making it difficult to glean fantasy from reality.
Well said. I guess it all depends on whether these message boards are used more for entertainment or whether we actually want them to be legitimate sources to disseminate information.
