However...the "election" that will be taking place in a motel conference room in Las Vegas, is only for the interim position, 5 month term.
The 3 year term vote will be by ballots, mailed to our homes. So we can all nominate and vote.
Per the email
"The ballots for the Group I new reps nominations for the term beginning March 1, 2015, and ending February 28, 2018, will mail on September 5. At the council meeting on September 23 we will be counting ballots; you do not have to be present for this process."
So the larger issue is who we elect for the full term that starts March 1.
So those of you in 77 that like to come on the boards and say how bad the MEC is, how we need a change, how it's corrupt. Well here is your chance. Announce your desire to be nominated for the full term starting in March. Realizing it's easier to just sit and complain about the current group of volunteers, because that's what they are, volunteers; change it if you don't like it.
The interim election is as, if not more, important than the full term election. In the next six months the Spirit MEC will have the opportunity to make hugely important decisions regarding the long term future for our careers. They could be faced with the decision to, or not to, open negotiations early and other important issues.
Therefore, the interim Capt Rep election is of vast importance .
A full slate of candidates have announced their intention to serve for all positions. I'm not one of them, so I won't place their names here in public. But I'll be happy to let you know in a PM.
