I wouldn't sweat the hat and shoe rules. Those will eventually morph anyway based on where your domicile is. DFW will be a boot base and PHL and JFK will be no-hat bases
After a year it will just droop, no more flying out, sorta like elephant ears. Try to hold the sitting down to a minimum while on duty. Management likes you to stand smartly in the concourse, answering all passenger questions.
