Maybe all those orders will simply replace the 50 seaters ExpressJet and SkyWest have for no real net gain in flying. The two airlines have a combined 486 50-seat jets. To maintain the same capacity on larger CRJ's/ERJ's/MRJ's, you'd need about 320 76-seat aircraft. No surprise then that SkyWest has ~300 orders (plus a whole bunch of options).
But that would require us caving on scope and that's not good for any of us. The only way anyone will get more 76 seaters is the same way PSA just got 47 CR7s.
Mgmt. wants relief to 81 seats for Delta +3% in pay but that will never make it past our NAC. Even if they offer us DL+15% it will never go to a vote. APA told DL & UA ALPA we'll walk over scope. In other words, scopes not up for negotiation, decrease it or risk a failed merger....... APA has also demanded all future E-jet orders to be flown by AA pilots plus a 3 year decrease in total regional jets from the current 618 to 450.
