I get 15 days off a month (2PRL days +13 contract) on top of that I get long call (14hrs) at the beginning of my 4&5 day blocks. So I stay home those days and the back end is commutable. I can normally be released around 1500 on the last day. I also am able to freely rework my awarded RSV and pick off days and move them so I can get blocks of 5 and 4 days off.
I commute on my own metal never missed a flight home or to work. We have a good commute policy, not awesome but what is in this industry ( don't even mention Delta I don't care)
I'm JFK and crash in Kew. It's great. I have my college buddy's in the area too at various airlines. We all wait until we are released ( I get released early 70% of the time and we head out and raise hell. At midnight on the weekend it gets busy in the Kew with all the airline people out an about.
I have always said I would love to do college again, this is pretty close.
When I only have two days off between RSV I fly to PR (on my own metal again) and kite surf...if I get long call on the first day, I spend it on the water in PR, on RSV , on a board, holding a kite, high on life!
ITS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT
On my days off I go home and clean poopy diapers hahahahaha. Not as glamorous as kite surfing!
But you're right. Having a line will be great once it happens but rsv is pretty chill and don't miss any days at home and like you get many LCR days. No complaints here.
