Also--is your quest to take care of yourself being conducted as a line pilot, or as a member of management (or future hopes to join management)?
The stuff you make up! I have long advocated for the pilot group as a whole including offering to pay every furloughed pilot. I have also pointed out often the effects of contract changes on junior pilots.
I can also assure you I have never applied for a management job nor will I.
I will rephrase my statement. I am for the group that will deliver the most value to the pilot group. Nothing in the historical record, the last 20 years of airline history or anything else suggests DPA could even remotely achieve that. The coming contract will be fought in DC and will require a extensive network.
There is one thing I do agree with DPA about. When they started their efforts to represent the Delta pilots they pledged to end that effort well before openers were to be exchanged on contract 2012 if they did not get enough cards for a vote. Their logic was that a divided pilot group could not achieve the best possible contract and their effort at that point would be detrimental to the pilot group as a whole.
Sadly they failed to honor their own pledge.
