I think the venue to mention volunteer work and outside interests is when they start off with, "tell us about your career since high school," or however it's worded. You can work those things in along the way no problem.
Agreed…I'd have one with you, but you likely won't need it. I had a few other things that I pulled out of my folder when certain questions came up. I have written a few articles in technical journals, had a couple pretty cool letters for things I had done, etc. When I mentioned them, I would pull out the applicable thing and the guys would pass it around and ask me questions about it. It killed time that they could ask other questions, and gave me a chance to answer questions that I was in control of. If you have stuff like that, bring it and try to get it on the table!
