Glad the system is working for you and i hope you enjoy the staffing levels in your base while you can. I forsee an airline woefully understaffed in all BES's once they get everything "in balance".
Yes in advance. A 4 day for 3 day will never happen the day of or day before. Same thing for moving work days up and down the week. You should be able to trade for the good stuff as long as it pops up prior to 9am the day before of the trip start, after that it depends on the situation.
As an example they never have and never will allow you to call in the day prior say at 5pm and drop your 7am start for a 7pm start the next day. It doesn't make a difference if you change the system to something different they will never allow that. Or if they build trips with the remaining open time specifically to fit a reserves time or duty requirements.
