First, Flightline is a tried and tested product that has resulted in a much better quality of life for MOST of the LASA folks. We spent a lot of money developing it over time and got a better overall QOL with it. Second, our understanding of SmartPref is that it may result in a poorer QOL for LASA due to globalization. Third, SmartPref has no successful track record from which we can accurately compare. Fourth, SmartPref, according to my understanding, will result in a poorer QOL for all the LXJT guys as compared with current line bidding. Fifth, the majority of LXJT people I hear from don't want Flightline because it wasn't their idea. So, the belief on our side is that , since you folks have more pilots than we do, we need to roll over and accept a PBS system that looks like it will negatively affect all of the pilots in our group (4500 ish) just because it is the brain child of the LXJT negotiators instead of being willing to seriously consider Flightline, which has positively impacted over 1700 of our pilots, and may actually be better for the LXJT group than SmartPref. It seems as if ya'll think that, if we are going to have to get a PBS system, it should get worse for everybody.
Final note, most of us just want this behind us, so let's negotiate something REASONABLE and move on.
This is what I do not understand. Did the ASA union tell you that there is a PBS transition agreement in place where you keep flightline and we keep SmartPerf for the duration of the next contract? Why is this not an acceptable option? I think this is completely REASONABLE but the ASA MEC wanted to revoke it because the TA did not pass. Lets move on, agree to the PBS transition, and get this thing done.
