No, he isn't. He is wrong, has a complete lack of understanding of the iliw / sliw, and something is preventing him from learning what the erj side actually has. You don't need great trips in open time. You can move days, get extra days off, and completely drop trips in a line improvement window. Quality of trips means nothing as long as there is a contractual requirement for positive coverage over a given number of days. People trade good trips for crappy trips to get days off, improve commutability, or fly with people they like. It allows pilots the flexibility to fly what they want to fly.
The ASA MEC isn't interested in any system other than flightline but have made themselves ignorant about every other system that is available. There are people that were/are willing to educate your side. The last time the crj guys showed up to a meeting about other systems they did no research and made ignorant statements just like that post ... It screams that they have no idea what they are talking about. This is on par with a car salesman telling you about a new fully electric car and someone claiming the car sucks because it doesn't have a muffler. What would you think of the guy making the muffler statement telling you they "understand" enough but want to stick to their civic because it has a muffler?
It really is no surprise that your MEC thinks publicly posting false information and propoganda online is professional. They are either ignorant to the truth or have an agenda that they are trying to get protect. Some of the things CaptainTony has said are downright ludicrous. If you are proud of the job he is doing you were probably inspired by your high school principle.
