You don't need great trips in open time. You can move days, get extra days off, and completely drop trips in a line improvement window. Quality of trips means nothing as long as there is a contractual requirement for positive coverage over a given number of days. People trade good trips for crappy trips to get days off, improve commutability, or fly with people they like. It allows pilots the flexibility to fly what they want to fly.
So with PBS, where would all of the open time come from at the beginning of the ILIW? Where does most of it come from with your current line bidding?
