Under PBS, there is NO NEED to drop crappy trips for good trips. See, in line bidding, there are so many variables for what you are wanting day to day or week to week, that you guys just take a line that kinda, maybe meets some of your needs - but may include some "crappy trips". (Your words) With PBS, you won't need to trade away that one (or two) crappy trip(s), because you would have already been awarded it, seniority permitting. You get stuck with a trip starting on a Friday in week 2 of the month? You could have bid all the trips that week that started on Thursday instead. You need the 4th Friday off, but want to work the other 3? Bid for that day off in PBS.

See, you don't need to just take any ole crappy line, and then seek to scour open time to swap out the trips you don't want. You bid that way initially. Line bidding construction does not work the same way PBS does. In line bidding, someone else delivers all the pairing randomly onto the lines. In PBS, YOU deliver the pairings onto your line. The only caveat is seniority. But seniority also dictates who is awarded lines in line bidding as well. PBS is far superior. WORK RULES ARE THE KEY!
