The purple for a line holder means a coverage award -- a trip on a certain set of days on which he and everyone junior to him must fly because of the number of trips left at his seniority on those dates. The light blue are the trips that he was awarded afterward in the normal trip award process.
Similarly for a reserve, the magenta means a coverage award of an on-call day, and the yellow is a normal award.
