Snowman, they're hiding in some sort of camoflauge and luck. It's all in the networking. I've never gotten a job that was posted anywhere. Most jobs, especially the really good ones, never get advertised. The ones that DO get advertised get SO many applications that who gets hired is well, anyone's guess.

The way to get a good job is, in my opinion, to work a really busy 91 job or a 135 job and network with pilots in every FBO you hit.

It's the only way you'll ever hear about most of the jobs that come available.

Quick example #1: The chief pilot for Aramark got his start in 135, at a charter company in Chester County, PA. He just happened to meet the right people and now heads quite a crew and 2 Challenger 604s.

Quick example #2: In 2001, I was in Columbus, having some coffee. I was chatting with a nice guy in a King Air 300. He said, "If you ever want to move back to Philly, give me a call." He gave me his card. A few years later, I was back here and he offered me a part time job flying a KA 300 and an Astra. I was looking for fulltime work, though, so I declined. But, it was a really good gig and good pay that he was offering. I'm sure it was just right for another guy.

Just two stories of networking in action.

That's my opinion.
