When you have others that rely on you, you don't but all your eggs in the xjt basket. Another way to look at it is, I have others who depend on what I get paid now and my QOL (days off), so don't go making this place worse for me by forcing concessions.
Seriously though, if you didn't have this as your only egg basket, how would you feel about concessions? That really is the way we should all think. Those are your true convictions. But it is easier for those of us who have a plan b.
This isn't the only egg in my basket....I made plan B and C after the dot.com bubble and 911....I still love my job and won't just give it up because you aren't happy. If this job isn't meeting your expectations and you have a plan B and C, then I expect you to exercise your plan B and C. However don't try and take me down with you because your plan A didn't work out your way....Those are fighting words and I will fight you...
