So 260 captains needed. We have approximately 220 FO's as of last bid packet. So only 40 people hired will actually be needed to staff the captains seats. I think more than 40 are slated for class between now and January.

So you would most likely upgrade from attrition rather than growth. That could be "fast" or it might not. I think we'll have decent attrition after the flow ends, but that is my opinion.
You're right. I think people starting class after the first of the year will quickly advance up the FO seniority list, but they surely won't be seeing a quick upgrade. Current FO's on the line line will see 1-2 year upgrades depending on when they were hired-- and they will fill just about off the captain positions going forward. I think after the AA planes get here and the airline is staffed for that upgrades will settle at around 2-4 years, and that's what I expect for people starting after the new year.
