You obviously have no experience in an SA227 III or IV. Having flown 20 and 30 series Lears, and both SA227 aircraft single pilot (which by the way, both fly NOTHING like a Merlin) I can honestly say that the SA227 is much more challenging to fly. That being said, it was the best time I've ever had flying an aircraft. If I could fly it for the salary I make now, I'd do it in a heartbeat. There are those that live the "Tube" and those that don't. I miss it more than any other aircraft I've flown.
This is a first. Never before, have I heard such affection for the Swineliner. One thing is for sure, there will almost certainly never be a group of pilots dedicated to restoring one for the airshow circuit.
