It is being supported by ALPA National in their crusade to kill off the regionals and create more mainline jobs. Even high paying regionals like ASA/XJT have had it floated to us. What's dangerous is that it isn't a condensed pay scale, it's a chopped off pay scale. It's 18 year CAs going down to 12 year pay! At my company, that's a $17.77/hr pay cut! That's also 8 year FOs frozen at 4th year pay when upgrade is 8 years or worse.
The problem is that mainline pilots are whistling past the graveyard on this issue. What they don't realize is that once the precedent is set, the regionals are killed, and they recapture the flying, management will be coming after them. Yes, Delta currently has a 12 year pay scale, but it's a condensed scale. they will be pressed the hardest for concessions. The regionals hold the bar at the bottom of the industry. When they fall, everyone falls and the downward pressure increases.
The joke of the commuters is that most mainline F/A's earn more than commuter pilots.
If they could go away tomorrow it would be too soon. Fortunately your opinion is not mirrored by the majority. Lemme guess you are a RJDC supporter!!
The more flying we have at mainline the more leverage we have. And mainline can take advantage of it. While the commuters **** and moan over $3 extra in a contract D.Parker just gave our FAs a $200 mil increase in their contract.
