The newest rumors have American pushing for scope increases at the regionals. If they were successful in bumping it up into the high 80's, virtually any route could be served by aircraft like that with just a little extra frequency. They'd knock out two birds with one stone; do the flights on mainline equipment and keep the regionals staffed. Let's hope the mainline guys hold their ground on scope.
Just changing scope doesn't keep anything staffed. I really don't see their play here. It is a discount maneuver for the mainline contracts. Doesn't mean they will find anyone to show up to be a 10 year FO at 4th year pay forever... Forget that. When Asia is hiring at $15-22k month? When Emirates can't get 5 guys to show up to a job fair? Majors need to turn a deaf ear to ANY scope relief. 20 years of stupidity is more than enough, especially just when the money is starting to come back to the career. They took half our careers away. We're keeping the other half.
