A checked-size bag will not fit through the x-ray machine which are meant for carry-ons. Only other option is walking through KCM which I don't want to do with a the size of a standard checked bag.
If you're jumpseating on Delta and you want to check a bag just go to the ticket counters they will create a listing for you and check the bag.
