Unless you have SOP like UAL.
CPDLC message, PM prints and reads in silence, hands it to PF, PF reads in silence. Then both pilots confirm to the other what the message said, all this before responding to the message or doing anything. It literally takes a minute or more to do a frequency change.
It's like a Cold War missile silo - "turn the key"
